DECISION TIME

We praise God that you are making a decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.Jesus says What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits or loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul when the time of judgment and death arrives?So we can see from God’s perspective that your individual soul is of greater importance and worth than he whole world.

We recommend that if you have made a recommitment or commitment that you print out a form and sign it. Then put it in your Bible as a reminder and reference. Do not send it to us as the commitment is between you and the Lord. However if you do wish to share this good news with us we will be most happy to place you on our prayer list.

Additional Studies

When one studies the Scriptures it is noted that the Godhead is made up of a Trinity: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All these separate entities are manifestations of the one Godhead but each seemingly are involved in separate functions (or work). If this at first seems confusing let’s look at a very common element on earth which also has a 3 part makeup or composition. This is H²O or water. It one form it can be seen as beautiful cascading streams or placid blue lakes. But lower the temperature just a few degrees below freezing and the crystal water changes into a cold, hard substance which we then called ice, on which we can skate or we can put in or drinks to cool them. Raise the same water temperature a few degrees higher than normal and it turns into steam or vapor. Vapor is invisible, until it forms itself into large clouds, which can produce storms, wind and lightening and can become large and powerful enough to cause great damage and forces us to seek shelter!

Man who is made in the image of God is also made up of a 3 part entity. He is not just a body, a glob of something that is here today and leaves a greasy spot and is gone tomorrow. Man is made-up of a body, soul and spirit. The body, as marvelous and complex as it is, with its 30,000 miles of blood vessels, nerves and a brain more complex than all the computers in the world will only last a few years depending of course, on how well we treat and protect it. The soul, however, is the “I” part of our make-up, which we never really see with our eyes. It is the part that acknowledges who we are, the part that knows we are a separate entity - the part that identifies our existence. In the beginning at original creation it says in Genesis 2:7 “…God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and MAN became a living being (soul). Man at this point became an independent being with temporary self-life and the power of free choice. Scriptures also note in Ezekiel 18:4 “the soul who sins shall die” (this is the second death – the first being when our bodies die). But we are also promised that if we are in Christ (our sins being justified by His sacrifice – His shed blood) we shall have eternal life. Then our soul, which outlasts our temporary body, will be outfitted with a new celestial body that will never die. We will have a non-destructible body that will be able to travel both in time and space without restriction.

Pride, ego, selfishness, greed, etc. are all sins found in the soul portion of our makeup. Drugs, alcohol and sex sins are sins of the flesh and are brought on by the lusts of an out-of-control body, no doubt motivated in part by the “I” part of our selfish soul. The spirit of man is eternal and when a person accepts Christ as their Savior, and follows God’s way, then God reinstates His Holy Spirit to guide in spiritual ways that individual. The Spirit then bears Witness with our spirit and leads us by right steps to eternal life. As you probably have already found out by now you have two different spirits working within you trying to influence your decisions: (1) an evil spirit working in your mind and soul that is teamed up with your lustful out-of-control body and (2) your spiritual nature being led by the Spirit of God. And you will become a slave to whichever one of these Spirits you allow to control your will and being!

Romans 6:16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey – whether you are slaves to sin which leads to death or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? Galatians 6:22-23 But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5: 19-21 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immortality, idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissension, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will NOT inherit the kingdom of God.Thus to obtain eternal life you must obey the Spirit of God and follow after the One who has the power, knowledge and desire to give you eternal life.

It is necessary for us to continually immerse ourselves in the Word of God so that God’s will (not our own) will be done in our life. The Word (the Bible) we read in 2 Timothy 3:16, “ is God –breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking correcting and training in righteousness. The spirit of man is eternal and when a person accepts Christ as Savior and follows God’s way, then God reinstates His Holy Spirit, “that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Only the Word has the power to change our lives so we can successfully overcome the forces of evil we meet on every side and within. To be victorious over evil spirits and avoid eternal death we must look into God’s Word (The Bible) on a daily basis.
